| SUBJECT: Drought relief for
Marlborough and
other areas.
Dear Mr Hope,
With regard to the serious drought
situation in Marlborough.
I am offering my weather modification service and experience should you
and your colleagues feel that they may be relevant to your needs.
During the drought of 1997-98 a similar
offer was posted
to Mr Bailey, former President of NZ Fed Farmers. The offer was
declined
and, you may recall, the cost to farmers amounted to one billion
dollars
and the overall economic loss was several billion dollars.
Approximately
half of those losses could have been avoided if the offer had been
accepted
at the time.
Past experience has shown that many
organizations respond
negatively to the solution that is offered and unfortunately the
consequences
have been severe but avoidable. With patience, understanding and
goodwill
I am certain that we can resolve many of the issues that will
undoubtedly
arise.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
John Porter
WM Consultant
PLEASE NOTE:
You have my permission to distribute this
offer to other
district councils that are similarly affected by drought.
